Your fourth week of pregnancy
If you’ve missed your period, did a pregnancy test and the result comes out positive, this marks a very crucial time for your pregnancy. During this time, your body will start producing some pregnancy symptoms.
Being 4 weeks pregnant means you are in the first trimester and about to complete 1 month of pregnancy. You probably won’t even look pregnant yet. Most first-time mums do not start showing until at least week 12. However, if this isn’t your first baby, you may start showing sooner as the muscles in your womb and belly may have been stretched from your previous pregnancy.
Here are some of the 4 weeks of pregnancy symptoms you may experience:
- Missed period
- Bloating, and feeling of being bloated
- Mild cramping (like period pains) and spotting, if implantation of the embryo takes place in the 4th week (see your doctor if you get bleeding during pregnancy)
- Feeling unusually tired or exhausted
- Tenderness of breasts / sore breasts
- Heightened sense of smell
During the first trimester, some pregnant women might not feel any pregnancy symptoms. But in the coming weeks, they are likely to experience these.
- Morning sickness and nausea
- New likes and dislikes (food aversions)
- Frequent urination
- Emotional changes such as anxiety and mood swings
Over the next 8 to 9 months, your body is going to be working hard. It’s important to prioritise time for yourself as you face all the pregnancy symptoms.
