Our Pool Reveal – Fraiche Living

We lastly finished the pool and back again garden of my dreams! I’m so exceptionally pleased with how it turned out. We’ve had masses of thoughts about the sizing, deck particulars, home furniture and extra. Grab a cup of coffee my mates and sign up for me for our pool expose tour.

I was fortunate enough to expand up with a pool in our yard residing in the Okanagan, we turned into fishes in the summertime!  Our wrinkled toes were evidence of hrs well spent in the pool with underwater tea functions, countless flips and giggles (particularly when our granny was in the pool – she was the best activity, diving for pucks that we would throw in the shallow end for her – some of my favourite reminiscences).

Quick ahead to now, where I dwell a stone’s throw from this exact home that I grew up in (I can see my parent’s residence from mine).  With all the time we devote at house coupled with the simple fact that our yard is substantial and flat, we determined to just take the plunge to place in a pool of our very own.

Pool Details

Our mate Owen at Sunquest Swimming pools (on the coastline) worked his magic to style and design our pool. Our home is 1/2 an acre, and our pool is 16×36′. Our pool has a set of a few lounging stairs (referred to as a sun pad).  The shallow finish is 10 toes extended with a deep end that is 7′ deep. We chose to have no diving board for protection good reasons: you know, two boys and all.

Pool Deck

The pool deck is concrete with greatly spaced growth joints (the cuts in the concrete) so that it did not glance also occupied.  The concrete was tinted a “light grey” in advance of poured (I assume it appears to be a bit darker than gentle grey but ultimately beloved how it turned out).  The most significant feature to highlight is the end of the deck. Pool decks can get particularly slippery, which of system is risky.  We went with a Top Cast finish that offers it a little bit of grit to make it non-slip, even once sealed.  Highly endorse.

The pool deck has a 5′ large walkway on the sides with a 10×20 foot place at the deep finish.  The lounger space is 12×20′.  The sitting down region is 16×26′.

Pedestal Planters

Our pedestal concrete planters are from Superior Earth Gardens – and I Love them!  They are from Henry Studios and are built to previous. They have this sort of a timeless sense and are this sort of good good quality.

Pool Liner

We ended up deciding upon a vinyl pool liner soon after deliberating around a drop-in pool. The liner we selected is referred to as Reef by Latham Pools, no border.

Pool Protect

There was no issue that if we were obtaining a pool, it would have a security protect on it to prevent the risk of any individual drowning in it.  While highly-priced (all-around $15k), the believed of anything going on was just too significantly for us.  This is a retractable protect with a pin pad and code to operate it. Although I really like the seem of an open up pool, at this stage it is lined anytime it is not currently being used. Ours is from Coverstar in mild grey.

Sitting Spot

We entertain a large amount, and preferred the room to be a put the place people today could expend the afternoon soaking up the solar and viewing for several hours on stop.  Here are the aspects of our poolside areas.

Home furnishings

We carved out a part of the prior landscaping to produce a cozy place wherever men and women could sit and stop by though watching the kids engage in their hearts out.  I was apprehensive that putting in a pool would make our lawn feel more compact, but the addition of this minimal space truly expanded the lawn.  We chose two Abaco Out of doors Sofas and two matching chairs with White Sand Sunbrella Cushions from Crate & Barrel.

The sq. out of doors hearth table was personalized produced by our close friend Ernie at Canada Outside Kitchens.  The pit is created out of a Cosentino material named Dekton that is mainly indestructible.

I discovered the aspect tables at Homesense and cherished them (I had to paint two of the bases black to match just about every other, but it was worthy of the work).

 

Pool Loungers

I fell in love with our pool loungers from Hauser, which collectively with the matching two-tone umbrellas, fully built the place.  The umbrellas have a heavy responsibility base in a pewter complete to retain them from flying away should a gust of wind occur up. The lounger covers are detachable and washable (thank goodness!).

Landscaping

Our landscaping was completed by Lakeshore Landscapes, a little family-operate organization who wowed me with their friendliness, good quality and perform ethic!  Our conventional landscaping is layered with Green Gem boxwoods, white Incrediball hydrangeas and lilacs in the back again (these will get awhile to expand).  The other spruce trees and cedars were there just before we moved in.
