Speed and Agility Training With Supplements
When performing any type of speed and agility training programs there are essential vitamins and supplements that will help maximize your results. With all the over the counter supplements available it is hard to determine which ones will help and which ones will be a waist of money. Most vitamins have been tested and have proven results but many supplements have no scientific proof that guarantees the product will work. For the purpose of this article I will concentrate on vitamins and proven supplements only.
The most important vitamin or supplement is the multi-vitamin. This is the foundation of maximizing your results and your other supplements if you are taking any. Without a good multi-vitamin much of your training work will not get maximum results. It is a known fact that while doing a speed and agility training program, your body exerts itself well beyond the normal daily activity and needs more vitamins and minerals to support the extra work your body is requiring to support such strenuous activity. If your body is lacking in vital vitamins and minerals, your workout will not be as intense, and will not produce the same results. Also, if you are taking supplements, they will not be utilized to their maximum efficiency because your training is not as intense as it could be.
Another recommended mineral is Omega 3. This has been tested to alleviate muscle and joint soreness, and increase stamina. In some test Omega 3 in conjunction with a speed and agility training program, weight loss was accelerated. The importance of alleviating muscle and joint soreness cannot be stressed enough. An athlete that is sore will not train as hard as an athlete with fresh muscles. If those tests were accurate and fat loss is accelerated then the speed and agility results will be accelerated. One big mistake many football players make is adding too much weight to quickly, which is usually fat weight. Look at excess fat weight as exactly that, WEIGHT. Time yourself in the 40 yard dash or 100 meters and then do it again with 10 pounds of weight on you back. Which times will be faster, with or without the weight? I think you will know the answer. The argument many athletes use is that my body will get used to the weight and the speed will be just as effective. Well just think how fast you would be if you eliminated that excess weight? Strong, tight muscles and a very low fat percentage on your body will give you the best results at the end of you speed and agility training program.
The one supplement that has been proven in many scientific tests is creatine. Used correctly this supplement will increase the results of your training program without the side effects. Creatine gets its results by enhancing physical performance by increasing the number of times that ATP can be recycled during physical exertion without increasing the absolute amount of ATP stored within your muscles. For the short-term this means that creatine supplementation taken correctly will improve your ability to sustain near maximal force generation during repetitive bouts of intense exercise without actually increasing the amount of peak force we can produce.
With the use of the multi vitamin, omega 3, and creatine, you are providing the building blocks to help maximize the results you expect from your speed and agility training program.
